Cool Number Dates – 7/19/15-7/25/15

This week has the last two cool number dates for July.  Unfortunately, August is worse!  Five cool dates in July, but only four in August.  Dearth days of summer.

Wednesday, 7/22/15, is a Minus Subtract date, since 7 – 22 = -15.

Thursday, 7/23/15, is the half-back day of the month.  Start at 7, go positively 16 to 23, then come back (negatively) half way (8) to 15.

Cool Number Dates – 7/12/15-7/18/15

I got nothing for this coming week in the way of cool number dates.  I’m sure there will be some nice summer days and there will be fun number discoveries, but not related to the dates so much. One potential exploration was suggested by my friend Lee, who suggested the following site about Tau day: http://tauday.com/tau-manifesto

Some say that Pi Day (3/14) gets too much improper glory, that Tau day (6/28, equal to 2*PI) is the more worthy number and date.

Whatever the mathematical foundations, it seems clear that Tau day will not catch on until there is some delicious desert named after it.

Cool Number Dates – 7/5/15-7/11/15

The majority of the cool number dates in July (3) happen this week, so enjoy the feast; the famine is coming!

Wednesday 7/8/15 is a lovely addition day: 7 + 8 = 15

Saturday 7/11/15 serves up two facts.  It is a sequence of 4.  That is, 7 to 11 is the same as 11 to 15, making it a sequence, and the spread is 4 in each case.

Also, 7/11 is free Slurpee day if you can find a 7-11 store.  The one closest to me closed last year.  Bummer.

Cool Number Dates – 6/28/15-7/4/15

Tuesday, 6/30/15, is the last June date with all multiples of three.  Look for more three products in September and December.

Don’t expect much in July.  7 and 15 don’t play well together.  But, Happy Independence Day on Saturday!

Did you know they have a Fourth of July in England?  And a fifth of July, and a sixth of July…

Cool Number Dates – 6/21/15-6/27/15

This week has THREE days with all multiples of THREE; a pattern is emerging.  See Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday: 6/21/15, 6/24/15 and 6/27/15.

Today is also a Minus Subtract Day, since 6 – 21 = -15.

And Wednesday is also a half back day.  Go up 18 from 6 to 24 and come back 9 (half way) to 15.

Cool Number Dates – 5/17/15-5/23/15

Wednesday, 5/20/15, has two cool operations going for it.  The day, month, and year are multiples of five.  And since 5 – 20 = -15, it is a minus subtract day.

But, the big news is the newly found palindromes!  We noted last week that 5/15/15, or 51515, is the same forward and backward.  It turns out that all the dates from 5/11/15 to 5/19/15 are palindromes!  So today, tomorrow, and Tuesday are all special: 51715, 51815, and 51915.
