Once again there are four multiple-of-two days: 2/16, 2/18, 2/20, and 2/22.
Plus, 2 – 16 = -14, so 2/16/14 is a Minus Subtract day.

This week we mostly have multiples of 2, for the second time!
2/10, 2/12, and 2/14 all qualify.
AND, 2 + 12 = 14, so 2/12 is also an Addition Day.
This week is full of great dates!
First of all, 2/2, 2/4. 2/6, and 2/8 are all multiples of two.
And 2 * 7 = 14, so 2/7/14 is a Multiply day
Finally, the mathematical constant e, or Euler’s number, is approximately 2.71828 and so is honored on 2/7!
The first half-back day of 2014 arrives this week on Monday, 1/27/14.
Count 26 to go from 1 to 27, then come half-way back (13) to go from 27 to 14.
There are no cool number days this week. None the first week of January, one next week, but FOUR last week. Clearly SOME days have all the fun.
Look forward to three fun Pallindrome days (same forward and backward) in April. The zeros need to be removed to make them palindromes, so they are labeled No-zero Pallindromes:
4/1/14 (4114)
4/11/14 (41114)
4/14/14 (41414)
This week has four different types of cool dates, on three different days! Since there were none last week, one thinks maybe cool days are not evenly distributed across weeks.
Monday, 1/13/14. Addition Day. 1 + 13 = 14
Tuesday, 1/14/14. This can be viewed as a Multiplication day ( 1 * 14 = 14) or as a Reverse Division Day (14 / 1 = 14)
Wednesday, 1/15/14. This is a Minus Subtract Day. (1 – 15 = -14)
December 2013 did not have many cool number combinations; besides being next to each other, 12 and 13 don’t have much in common. As you can see in the attached pdf file, January 2014 is also sparse. The first cool date of the year is not until 1/13/14… a week away.
But you can see the whole year in the attachment.
You may recall that PI Day is March 14. This is in honor of 3.14, the rounded version of PI.
Go out a few more decimal places to 3.14159265359 (that’s what Google gives right away!)
Make that into a date and TIME – 3/14/15 at 9:26:53 (or 9:26:54 if you round).
That is just more than a year away, so get ready. It falls on a Saturday, so think of the opportunities in the morning and evening, with pies and math jokes galore.
And get ready to round out your big PI day because 3/14/16 is rounded at the date level. It’s a Monday.
Of course, don’t forget this coming year – 3/14/14 is on a Friday.
Thanks to Evan for reminding about the TIME part.
As mentioned earlier, December 2014 is pretty sparse for cool number dates.
In fact, the last one of the month (and year) is this Wednesday, Christmas day, 12/25/13.
12 – 25 = -13… A Minus Subtract Day.
Look forward lots of ALL EVEN days next December!
There are no cool number days this week, but yesterday was extraordinary (and as you can see from the picture below, it was cold)!
Just after I wrote a post about the mileage on our silver Honda Pilot reaching 111,111 miles (see 9/13/13, Cool Numbers), I drove to Missouri to attend the memorial service for my Best Man Glenn. The time with his family was great, I got to stay one night with Linnea in Chicago and another night with my sister Cindy in St Louis, and then saw brother Scott and sister Elaine for lunch in Indianapolis. But adding an extra thousand miles made it impossible to match a true November date (e.g. 112813) on the Pilot’s odometer.
On the way home it did occur to me that December 1 is really the same as November 31. Given that bit of illogic, I was able to watch and wait for the odometer and calendar to match. Yesterday, November 44, 2013 = 114413 = December 14, 2013. I thought about driving another hundred miles today to match up 114513, but realized that would create a lot of pressure for 114613, etc. Maybe I need to go to St Louis again in a week or so…
