Hebrews 4.12 gives a remarkable list of characteristics of God’s utterances.  The word of God is

–          Living

–          Active

–          Sharper than any two-edged sword

–          Piercing to the division of soul and spirit

–          Piercing to the division of joints and of marrow

–          Discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart
